A longing for solace still vexes these California darkwavers, who follow up their noirish debut with this murkier sequel. As the monotonic chill in Justin Warfield's vocals wades through the mucky side of sex and love and dives headfirst into subjects like death and doomsday, the rest of the band takes valuable cues from prior tourmates Depeche Mode. Synths, snaking guitars and drum machines grab debauched desires and dejection by the dance shoes and give the band's glum overtones a shot of endorphins. Bop to "True Romance" and "What I Want" and respire to "All Those Moments."
