Venice Beach skateboarder faves come out pushing and shoving, frantic and fighting drunk, like if Black Flag had been more enamored of hopped-up '70s Aerosmith/Kiss/Van Halen riffs, or maybe Chocolate Watchband ones from the decade before that. Knowingly sexist opener "Zipper Tripper" and the proudly nihilist title anthem start out as Sabbath-sludge only to speed up in seconds; "Drinking Man" starts out with delirium tremens on the way to work, then apologizes for last night's domestic violence. When the last three songs finally exceed four minutes, the relative expansiveness feels earned.
