Like anything on the Luaka Bop label, Si*Sé evade stereotypes. Although New York drum 'n' bass scenester Carol C teamed up with programmer/DJ U.F. Low to create the group, don't expect drum 'n' bass. And although both band members claim Latin roots, don't expect all the songs to be salsa-fied Spanish-language burners. Instead, Si*Sé blend all their influences into a cool downtempo stew that's deftly produced and enriched by Carol C's slippery, seductive voice. Urbane and jazzy, this is the sound of New York summers – with the air-con turned up.
