Released: Jan 1986
With the Cure gaining traction, Robert Smith left the Banshees to concentrate on global domination. Tinderbox finds the Banshees easing off the orchestral psychedelia and concentrating on their tribal drums and edgy guitar post-punk sound of old. The songs still offer melodic gifts, and numbers such as "Cannons," "Land's End" and '80s alt-rock staple "Cities in Dust" rank among their best. This remastered edition includes five bonus cuts -- four strong enough to have made it onto the album, plus the popular remix of "Cities in Dust." This would be the band's last truly essential album.
