Biography

Pianist Sir Roland Hanna (he was knighted by the President of Liberia) has played with leaders ranging from Charles Mingus to Sarah Vaughan in addition to leading his own Bop combos in a career that has spanned over forty years. He really shines when playing solo: he stretches back into the pre-Bop era as well as forward into more adventurous areas, exhibiting a dignified presence and also a sharp wit with his surprisingly placed quotes.
