Biography
San Francisco's late, lamented Sister Double Happiness were fronted by singer-songwriter Gary Floyd, ex-frontman of Austin's seminal Dicks -- a band that only hinted at his powerful vocal presence. Sister Double Happiness took a slightly ragged yet nuanced approach to their music: combining aspects of Punk, blues, country and psychedelia in a way that complemented Floyd's riveting, bluesy vocal style, the band prefigured the Grunge explosion by a few years. The band were very successful on their local club circuit and eventually scored a deal with a major label; however, mainstream success eluded them, and they splintered in 1995.
