suSU Miami - inspired by 10 Years of WMC A Selection of Blissful Electronic House Grooves

Mar 2012

Biography

This self-dubbed "Junk Rock" band are an organic mix of heavy riff laden Bleach inspired pop laments and fragmented rhythm-heavy Grunge Rock. Skeleton Key is the cathartic collaboration of ex Knitting Factory booker Chris Maxwell on the sludgy and fudgy guitar tracks, and Erik Sanko from New York's no wave art school band, the Lounge Lizzards on the pummeling and sternum-rattling bass. Drummer Steve Calhoun violently plays a standard drum kit simultaneously with Butter 08's Rick Lee going postal on his junk-kit (In place of drums, he bangs on a Radio Flyer children's wagon, a Technics metal turntable plate, a propane tank, rusty hubcaps, an old table, folding chairs, pots and pans, and various film reels). Their chaotic and kinetic sounds are wonderfully contained in witty arrangements and catchy songwriting.
