Though sundry collaborations, digital cuts and leaked tracks emerged in the interim, 2011's Anomie is technically this longtime KMFDM/Marilyn Manson crony's first solo album since 1996. The one-man-band affair starts out campy and creepy-crawly, as Skold's sick-bed sore throat revels in decadent stuff beneath techno-spurting machines and thrashing guitars. He brags about his elephant, forecasts the abyss, commands you to drop to your knees, swears you won't get dessert until you finish dinner. Halfway through, though, tempos slow and Skold gets emotional -- even a little pretty here and there.
