Top of the World
Slightly Stoopid
Released:
Aug 2012
Label:
Stoopid Records
This ninth album from the beach-friendly acoustic outfit officially moves them into a heady mix of funk, reggae, dub and hip-hop, while leaving their signature SoCal skate punk behind. Clearly recorded with live instruments, Top of the World sounds deeply influenced by the subtle power and overall "smokiness" of the Beastie Boys' Check Your Head. Signed when they were still in high school, Slightly Stoopid is all grown up here, and instead of making jokes for the crowd, they're more focused on laying down a legitimate groove.
