If Sloan's Navy Blues was a suburban high school kid getting drunk on cheap beer, then this follow up is his older, college age brother sucking down bong hits. Influences are all over the place, from Todd Rundgren (Don’t You Believe A Word), Fleetwood Mac (A Long Time Coming), even Aztec Camera gets a nod (Waiting For Slow Songs). Like all great albums, Between the Bridges takes time to grow on you, but this ridiculously underrated LP is more than worth the effort.
