BiographySnuffy Jenkins was a pioneering banjo player who recorded and played most often in a duo with fiddler Pappy Sherill. He represents one of the key links between old-time String Band music, Appalachian, and the modern Bluegrass of Lester Flatt and Earl Scruggs. (Jenkins was, in fact, somewhat of a mentor to the young Earl Scruggs.) He passed away in 1990 at the at the age of 82, consistently playing and recording until he died.
