The band's first, 1995's Pussysoul, finds Soilent Green still growing into the inhuman powerhouse of extremity they would become three years later with Sewn Mouth Secrets. Singer Ben Falgoust doesn't have his vocal style completely down yet, and overall, the album is more death metal than the experimental grindcore Soilent Green are known for today. Still, Brian Patton is playing guitar, so you can rest assured the boogying swamp metal riffs that identify practically every good band from New Orleans are in full, putrid effect. "Lips as So of Blood" actually swings.
