Soraya's placid pop songs have the kind of self-satisfied womanliness that makes Sheryl Crow so popular north of the border. But she can hold her own when the pace picks up, as with hits like "Cuerpo y Alma," or on twangy adult alternative fare like "Avalancha." It's not brilliant stuff but it's perfectly nice; songs like "Pueblito Viejo" hint of unsuspected depths.
