That's Where It's At
Released: Sep 2005
Label: Blue Note Records
Long out-of-print, this 1962 set matches Turrentine with pianist Les McCann, perhaps his best keyboard foil outside of his work with McCoy Tyner and Gene Harris. (Apologies to organist Shirley Scott, the ex-Mrs. Turrentine!) There's nothing revelatory here, just tasty, soulful jazz, most of it bouncing along at a medium tempo, though the group really sizzles on "Pia."
