Biography

In addition to twiddling knobs for Pacific Northwest notables such as Soundgarden, Screaming Trees, Nirvana, and Britain's The Wedding Present, Steve Fisk contributes to a staggering number of projects. Pigeonhed, a collaboration with vocalist Shawn Smith (Brad, Satchel) saw Fisk cutting and splicing Funk and R&B in Plunderphonic pieces of digital manipulation. Pell Mell -- an all-instrumental group featuring himself, fellow producer Greg Freeman, and an assortment of other players -- is Pigeonhed's antithesis, concentrating on minimally-effected, Surf-inspired tunes rich in '60s reverb-laden character. Fisk has also found his way into a number of the Pacific Northwest's fabled all-star bands such as Witchy Poo, a group featuring Kill Rock Stars' owner Slim Moon. Together with K Records honcho Calvin Johnson and Built to Spill's Doug Martsch, they are the Halo Benders, a dreamy, yet discordant pop outfit.
