Steve Grossman

Steve Grossman

Biography

Steve Grossman has had an inverted career compared to many jazz players; he started out playing soprano and tenor saxophone in Miles Davis's proto-Fusion bands in the late '60's and has moved steadily towards playing more conventional jazz. While just a teenager, Grossman was put in the position of filling Wayne Shorter's big shoes on classic Davis albums such as Jack Johnson,Live EvilBlack Beauty. Grossman's intense technique and energetic tone have established him as a more traditional player in the vein of Sonny Rollins or Michael Brecker, after having a chance to explore Bop and Swing from the '80s till the present.
