Stand-up comedian and filmmaker Steven Wright has a delivery and style that remain singular after his 1985 debut, I Have a Pony, came out and his HBO special, A Steven Wright Special, became a pop-culture touchstone of the era. While Wright's ultra laid-back demeanor and left-field approach to the one-liners that entirely make up his routines has certainly been influential, only the late Mitch Hedberg was ever able to even approximate Wright's genius. The sheer number of jokes penned by Wright for his sets (40 minutes to a full hour of one-liners) is simply mind-boggling. Despite appearing as the voice of the radio DJ in Reservoir Dogs and winning an Academy Award for the short film The Appointments of Dennis Jennings, Wright did not release a second album of material until 2007, 22 years after I Have a Pony came out. The album was called I Still Have a Pony.
