Stone Sour is the less horrific, more melodic original band of Slipknot vocalist Corey Taylor and guitarist Jim Root. Together since 1992, the Des Moines quintet made sure their second album, while still heavy metal, treads more accessible and easily identifiable ground than Slipknot. Songs like "30/30-150" rage with hardcore aggression and first single "Through Glass" eases into soft-strummed balladry, while the title track is a scorching example of how to be both heavy-duty and radio-ready.
