The short-lived Strange Creek Singers are folk music's equivalent to Cream or Blind Faith. We're talking a lineup of heavyweights here: Mike Seeger and Tracy Schwarz of the New Lost City Ramblers, former Blue Grass Boy Lamar Grier and Appalachian legends Hazel Dickens and Alice Gerrard. The quintet, playing a mixture of urban bluegrass and rustic mountain music, recorded just a single album in the late 1960s that has since become a stone-cold classic amongst hardcore folk fans. Great stuff.
