STS9 (Sound Tribe Sector 9)

These Athens natives sound like they've followed a tour or two and picked up valuable information on group improvisation in the process. Live and programmed beats derived from Drum 'n' Bass and Progressive House drive uplifting, exploratory, frenetic guitar and meandering keyboards to create next-level jam rock. Their group intuition allows them to pull off improvised songs as if they were well rehearsed. The group now resides in Northern California and has a busy touring schedule as one of the premier jam bands around. Recorded at various shows throughout 2001, their 2002 release Seasons 01 captures these moments of spontaneity on songs that the band had often never played (and in some cases never played again).
