Singh's got one of the most distinctive, stirring voices among current playback singers, and that's almost enough to carry his solo album. Unfortunately, parked at the gate of the album are a few stinkers, one of which unforgivably buries his voice, while the other suffers from the tinny sameness that mars much Hindi film music. Still, hang in there. Once you get past the trash, you'll find that Singh's best songs have the uncanny ability to slow down time: he carries a slow song like he's walking through a forest and discovering each word as he goes.
