This glacially tempoed, behemoth-lost-in-forest beating-on-drums howl rings like a pagan cross between Laibach and Carnival in Coal, minus the zany cover versions. Background sounds tend toward brass in this bummer from Austria's summer of 2006. Contemplating the cover art's misty mountains rising above a cold desolate lake, one can easily imagine it as the terrain some downtrodden yeti must cross. Tinkling pianos lead our homeless monster "Northward," toward his final resting place in the Arctic Circle. And in the next song, "Menegroth," you can even hear the wind. And wind chimes!
