Because Majesty Shredding is Superchunk's first full-length in nine years, the media has framed it as a reunion album, despite the fact that the group has remained intermittently active. So it's not a bona fide reunion -- but it is a reaffirmation of core values. This, of course, is naive to say, but only a band truly committed to itself as a full-time, way-of-life entity could make a record this emotionally vital. If its raucous vibrancy doesn't make you want to bounce off your bedroom walls, then the absurd excess of scrappy hooks surely will. Well done, Superchunk!
