Superjoint Ritual

One of Pantera singer Phil Anselmo's many side projects, Superjoint Ritual is an extremely brutal thrash/hardcore/sludge metal hybrid. Everybody always mentions how Hank Williams III plays bass for this band but the real draw is former Eyehategod guitarist Jim Bower's presence. At their best, Superjoint Ritual sounds like a more souped-up version of Eyehategod, with better production values and the immediately-identifiable Anselmo shriek. At their worst they sound like Phil Anselmo screaming his goddamned face off with blisteringly heavy guitars and stomp-your-head-in drums for support. Don't let the crappy band name fool you.
