Suzi Quatro has been pointing the way for female rock 'n' rollers since she and her sisters formed an all-girl Detroit garage rock band called The Pleasure Seekers in the 1960s. Her umpteenth record finds the veteran returning to the raw glam/pre-punk/r'n'r that so inspired The Runaways, albeit with a far more "grown up" undertone, with some soulful balladry and exactly zero adult contemporary glitz tossed in. The guitars are consistently crisp, and good news: Quatro can still yell. Fans of "Can the Can" will want to start with "Strict Machine" and "Breaking Dishes."
