I've Got My Eye On You
Released: Jun 2008
Maurice Fulton reaffirms his outer-limits status on his DFA debut as Syclops. Adept at every dialect of electronic soul, this is Fulton at his most intense, lost in grueling analog squeals ("The Fly"), drunken bass arpeggios ("Mom, the Video Broke") and R+B future-balladry ("A Lovely Sunday"). The record's as diverse as Fulton's career: "Naoka's F" sounds like vintage ambient; "5 Out" is lush, skipping deep house; "NR17" marries tribal congas to electro pitter-patter. And the controlled flail when he takes to an acoustic drum kit is as invigorating as any John Bonham solo.
