Marc Bolan continued to freefall out of favor with this 1974 amalgam of sideways studio tricks and multisectioned songs. Combining the old school rock 'n' roll of his beginnings with elements of funk, soul and prog, the album is a difficult refutation of the good-timey party-boogie everybody wanted from him at the time. Regardless of how it was received, Zinc Alloy still boasts Bolan's simple but always excellent guitar work. He veers into noisy, futuristic Phil Manzanera territory at the end of "Nameless Wildness," and Bowie fans will dig "Teenage Dream."
