Biography
Tappa Zukie (aka David Sinclair) had enough talent as a teenager in the early '70s to attract the attention of Patti Smith, who helped him release his first album of rhyming DJ chants and tough Roots rhythms. Decades later, Zukie is entirely established not only as a performer, but also as an extremely successful Jamaican producer who has worked with many great singers, including Beres Hammond and Horace Andy. His singing is filled with tenor toasting and a variety of rhymes extolling the virtues of ganja and Rasta life, generally laid over the best Dub-like grooves from artists including Bunny "Striker" Lee and Yabby You. Full-on Dub remixes by King Tubby and Glen Brown have helped earn Zukie the audience he deserves.
