Released:
Label: Eagle Rock Ent LTD
After a seven-year layoff, Nugent reunited with his most frequent (and best) vocalist Derek St. Holmes for this, his last album for Atlantic, which appeared in 1995. The heaviest and finest of the lot, Spirit of the Wild combines the things he did right in the '80s ("Tied Up in Love," for starters) with his hard psyche beginnings and wacky but genuine nature-man-with-guitar ideas. A return to organic studio practices contributes to the warmth. There's even a song called "Tooth, Fang & Claw," the title of his second solo album, featuring a guitar solo on par with "Hibernation."
