We've now officially wrapped Producers Corner, our exclusive video series in which we grilled our favorite producers about their mysterious craft while following them around their natural habitat: the studio, of course. Over the past few months we've traveled everywhere from New York City to California's Grass Valley to talk to everyone from indie-rock giants Phil Ek, Tim Green, John Vanderslice, hip-hop-and-beyond innovators AraabMUZIK, Zakee, pop stars and all-around Renaissance men Andrew W.K., Teddy Geiger, and more. Here, we've collected the highlights, the most salient pieces of wisdom, and our all-time favorite moments. It's all brought to you by ASUS and Intel. Enjoy.
Something of a male version of Fiona Apple, Teddy Geiger is a precocious teenager with a distinctive, idiosyncratic voice. He's given to writing and arranging songs that, while perfectly suited for radio play on the strength of their strong pop moves, go far beyond what is generally offered in the mainstream in terms of sophistication. Where Apple blends jazz into her music, Geiger leans more towards the pantheon of alternative rock in his arrangements. But like Apple, he knows the best way to record the drums, and that's all that really matters, isn't it? Geiger was discovered while acting as a songwriter on the short-lived 2006 TV show Love Monkey. Underage Thinking, his debut album, was released the same year.
