Man-Made
Teenage Fanclub
Released:
May 2005

Merge Records
Teenage Fanclub are too devoted to power pop to go for abrupt aesthetic shifts, so an album recorded in Chicago with a post-rock wizard like Tortoise's John McEntire isn't that different from its predecessor, Howdy, or even an older jam such as Thirteen. It does feel a bit more indie, a bit less classic rock. But ultimately T.F. are still channeling the Byrds/Gene Clark and even a little Poco and Fleetwood Mac. Man-Made isn't the band's magnum opus, but you'll be humming its melodies for sure.
