They may sound like angels, all wistful charm and close harmonies -- Tegan's yang butting its spiky head against Sara's softer yin -- but a closer listening reveals a shrewd intelligence at work. The siblings pull back the soiled sheets of a less-than-perfect relationship to redefine the politics of love, falling somewhere between the strategic menace of Bikini Kill and the passive-aggressive folk of the Indigo Girls (only with more infectious choruses). The sisters chronicle a relationship unraveling, in spite of a playful delivery and a trancey remix of "Back in Your Life" by Tiesto.
