Michael Benjamin Lerner is Telekinesis, an impressive feat for the huge power-pop sound he emits. For his third album, he recruited Spoon drummer Jim Eno to produce, which may be why the drums are so prominent and propulsive, boosting frenetic tracks like "Empathetic People," "Dark to Light" and "Laissez-faire." But Lerner's got much more under his sleeve, from the throbbing buzz of "Ghosts and Creatures" to the new wave synths of "Wires" and "Ever True" to the sweet acoustic balladry of "Symphony": "I do believe that we are machines/ And we search 'til our parts intersect." Aww!
