About Terry Ellis
When they started to tire of having virtually no artistic control over their own music, both Dawn Robinson and Terry Ellis left En Vogue to explore the wide world of solo artistry. Robinson ended up in the much-lauded Lucy Pearl, while Ellis stuck to her diva-out-alone guns. If these songs sound like En Vogue, it's mainly because Ellis' voice played such a prominent role in her first band's hits. Ellis' solo work is pretty similar to that of En Vogue, although the overall feel is more "downtown girl" and less "funky divas strolling Fifth Avenue."
