A lot folks out there dismiss Tesla as a hair metal band. Sure, their studio albums have always sounded awfully polished. Dig beneath the surface, however, and you'll discover a meat 'n' potatoes hard-rock band. Reel to Reel, a collection of covers, lends some insight into Tesla's diverse influences, which range from the obvious, Deep Purple and Thin Lizzy, to earthier bands like the James Gang and Traffic. All in all, the group does a fantastic job of honoring their heroes. Crank this thing.
