The All-American Rejects totally worship Weezer (first two albums) and Green Day (Insomniac and earlier). Because of this, Kids in the Street, their first full-length in four years, sports the kind of fusion of alt-rock and power pop that was all the rage in the 1990s. This anachronistic quality shouldn't bother fans. The group is all about quality in craft. The guitars are fuzzy and chunky, vocals snotty and slack, and lyrics slyly witty and sharp. Songwriters Tyson Ritter and Nick Wheeler tackle subjects such as maturity, responsibility and self-doubt with a weight that's refreshing.
