The Band
Released:
Nov 1975
Label:
Capitol
Coming at the tail end of their Americana music dominance, this seventh album from The Band still features the characteristics that make their music a treasure. Specifically, they play together with a bouncing easiness pretty much no one could duplicate -- and you get to hear Richard Manuel sing. "Ophelia" and "It Makes No Difference" may be the only bona fide Band classics but, even at half-speed, "Forbidden Fruit" smokes and "Acadian Driftwood" is one of those mythical, sad history lessons Robbie Robertson is a master of. You might want to get drunk for "Hobo Jungle."
