The Black Heart Procession

Begun as a side project to the commercial efforts of San Diego's Three Mile Pilot and project-oriented Clikitat Ikatowi, The Black Heart Procession have evolved freely and quickly, offering new explorations in ominous, cinematic noisy folk. Distorted howls and phantom-like voices reach through somber, graveside melodies, pleading at the hooves of galloping, wagon-paced rhythms. Core members Pall Jenkins, Tobias Nathaniel and Mario Rubalcaba invite the collaboration of others in the studio, adding haunting piano melodies, strings, electronics and even a saw to embellish their epic, darkly-inspirational, Grapes of Wrath-style dustscapes. A tired, whiskey-flavored vocal narrates the whole ordeal, seemingly unaffected by the ghostly sounds that swoop and surround it.
