Blood Brothers bring their slanted, free-form post-punk mania within striking distance of the mainstream with Young Machetes. Deigning to offer less chaos and more tightly-wound structure than ever before, these chirping, shrieky smart kids let the hooks ride atop it all, parodying Jet and basically shaming the competition. The Blood Brothers would be just as able (and expected) to make utterly inaccessible math-noise, but the fact that they take the trappings of such experimentation and apply them to what boils down to an emo punk-pop hybrid is way more interesting in the end.
