Italy's Bloody Beetroots don't inspire confidence, from their name to their puerile, retro-punk cover art. But their debut album, released on Steve Aoki's Dim Mak label, sidesteps the inauspicious signs. This is punchy, darkly fun, surprisingly well-rounded stuff. Sirens and rave stabs ratchet up the tension atop shuddering synths and brickbat beats; there's as much classic techno as post-Justice electro in these blistering, breakneck jams. As with their namesake veggie, a little goes a long way, but strip away the sketches and R&B sidesteps and it's a stadium rave in your living room.
