This elevator must make short jumps -- most of the tracks here are only a minute or so in length. And judging from this tantalizing collection of sketches, you can bet that the lift is an antiquated gizmo complete with warped mirror, clattery door and well-buffed Bakelite buttons, oozing eccentric character. These oddball snippets combine found sounds and dialogue with condensed melodic fragments played on ragtag acoustic instruments; where Lost and Safe was melancholy, though, this EP comes across more like an Onion headline -- minor enlightenment with a twinkling eye.
