The Brunettes
Released:
Aug 2007

Sub Pop Records
The Brunettes' languid dream pop stretches lazily from song to song, buoying listeners on a sea of tranquil sounds filled with glockenspiels, clarinets, xylophones – you get the idea. That's not to say the Brunettes don't rock out -- they do -- albeit quietly, and with a great deal of charm. Taking cues from bands such as the Velvet Underground, Television and Mazzy Star, the group shapes subdued melodies to form heady gems such as "Obligatory Road Song" and "Wall Poster Star" – two of the many highlights from the New Zealand duo's debut.
