The Cars were a consummate singles group, but their second album isn't as chock full of hits as their debut. Still, upon arrival, this 1979 follow-up blew away the competition in the then-nascent new wave scene. Chances are you know "Dangerous Type," "Let's Go," "Double Life" and "It's All I Can Do" by heart. Meanwhile, the Kraftwerk-ing title cut proves the Germans weren't the only ones obsessed with (and adept at) making robots dance. Combining rock guitars, infectious synths and perfect pop hooks wrapped in an art-punk aesthetic, The Cars were an important part of the CBGB scene.
