by The Chap
Released: Jul 2008
Label: Ghostly International
Ghostly International is a spotty proposition, but you gotta give it up for the label. It constantly pushes the boundaries of techno, without ever slipping into IDM's overly serious posturing. The Chap, like Ratatat, are dedicated to good times while blending electronica, new wave and touches of prog and glam. Outside of the funky "Caution Me," there's nothing on Mega Breakfast that could be called a club jammer, but that's not the point. It's just a real fun album full of '80s-inspired pop.
