Music For Pleasure
The Damned
Released:
Nov 1977
Label:
Sanctuary Records Fontana
On the band's second release, Brian James was still in charge, but '60s psych-rock fan Captain Sensible got Pink Floyd's Nick Mason to produce this dissapointment. While Pleasure neither equals the Damned's debut nor their (superb) subsequent LPs under Dave Vanian and the good Captain's care, its worse offense might be that it doesn't plunge the depths (nor attempt the heights) of a truly bad album. The Damned would breakup after this and reunite on 1979's era-defining Machine Gun Etiquette.
