Having already sanded off the buzzy quirks of their earlier work, this folksy indie-pop duo pares down still further on their fifth album, thus forging their simplest tunes yet. (Every title here is a single noun.) They're mostly into hovering around one idea at a time. Yet this doesn't rule out a multi-part, five-minute epic ("Confidence") that becomes pounding and electric once they chant the title enough times. And "Stranger" harks back to their skittering beginnings. Carrier's lightweight, sure, but also rife with constant reminders The Dodos are more than the thinking man's Guster.
