In these two legendarily bootlegged sets recorded in 1967 Los Angeles, the band is decidedly tamer than they would later become, and Morrison isn't exactly playing the three-ring-orgymonger. However, they still jar any grownups within earshot with explicit, if gentler versions of two of their most infamous songs, "The End" and "Gloria." "When the Music's Over" and "Back Door Man" get a similar treatment. The result is interesting; the band behind Morrison's poetry, Kreiger, Manzarek and Densmore, appear far more talented as straight-up rock musicians than they tend to get credit for.
