Label: Relapse Records
Easing up on their mathcore past, the End offer a more progressive/alternative sound here, bearing a closer resemblance to enigmatic masters Tool than their previous comparison, calc majors Dillinger Escape Plan. The band still experiments with timing and intricate song structures on Elementary, but uses slower tempos beneath both gritty and clean vocal melodies, formulating a sound that all but reinvents their aesthetic. It may be a new direction, but the End have improved upon their foundation, resulting in a solid album from start to finish.
