The Escorts
Biography
There were a lot of Soul bands who did what the Escorts did -- weaving harmonies into lush lattices of soaring falsettos and bottom-dwelling bass voices -- but none had the distinction of being prisoners who recorded entire albums from their jail cells. Instead of cranking out license plates and pumping iron in the weight room, the Escorts made their time behind bars just a bit less difficult by banding together and creating smooth '70s Soul.
