by The Faint
Released: Aug 2008
On their fifth studio album, Omaha's the Faint jump from longtime home Saddle Creek to their own blank.wav label. Continuing to blur the techno-goth strains of their breakout album Danse Macabre, the record follows Wet From Birth's indie-dance fusion with jagged guitars, edgy arpeggios and low-slung bass; poppy sing-alongs ("The Geeks Were Right") alternate with experiments in crunk ("Fulcrum and Lever"). Any extra circuitry has been routed to the vocal channels: singer Todd Fink's lines are resonant with robot harmonizing, no matter how homespun the sentiment.
